July 10, 2011 –(PR.com)– David Edmonson, MD, FACS, a breast surgeon with the Breast Health Center in the Program in Women’s Oncology at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, was recently named to the Communications Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Dr. Edmonson, who sees patients in at the Breast Health Center’s offices in Providence and Woonsocket, was nominated for the position at the group’s annual meeting in May. He joined the staff at Women & Infants in 2010 and is a Fellow in the Society. Recently, he was appointed the hospital’s Cancer Liaison Physician with the Commission on Cancer with the American College of Surgeons.

This new position will enable him to channel his ideas into action to benefit our patients.” The American Society of Breast Surgeons was founded in 1995 and has grown into the primary leadership organization for general surgeons who treat patients with breast disease.
